The latest macOS version is now available for download. 10.15 is the first version that runs on Apple Silicon Chips with ARM architecture. Of course the devices are also supplied with Intel chips, of which some are still sold.
With Big Sur, Apple is bringing the look a little closer to iOS again. The optical differences are reduced. Nevertheless Apple tries to keep the respective advantages of the operating systems for iOS devices and Macs.
As usual Apple throws older Macs out of the update cycle with this new version. In this case, all Macs from 2012 and older will no longer receive updates to the latest operating system version. But since Apple always provides the latest and the last two versions, 10.15 and 10.14, with security updates, there are still one or two years of security updates left. As usual, we warn all users who only have one Mac and need it for their work: wait a little longer before updating. New versions are completely mature and there are always problems with sophisticated music software, for example. All others: have fun with the update!
