Apple has launched a new repair program. Apple Watches series 2 and 3 may have cracks in the glass of the display. A repair is made free of charge.
Apple stresses on this page that the models concerned are only aluminium models. Other materials such as ceramics or stainless steel are not affected. This seems to limit the problem to the cheaper glass of the cheaper models – the higher priced models get sapphire glass as cover, which seems to be much more stable.
If your watch has a ripped display as shown in the pictures, you can simply contact Apple. The display will then be exchanged free of charge and the Apple Watch will look like new again and will be completely waterproof again.
