New LG UltraFine 5K Display – also for the iPad

Apple has released a new version of LG’s UltraFine 5K display.

The old model as well as the 4K version was removed from the shop some time ago. The 4K model then got an updated successor, so now it’s also the 5K model’s turn.

The main two things that have changed are the ability to connect an iPad Pro via USB-C (but the iPad only delivers 4K) and the increased charging power for connected MacBooks, which is now at 94 watts instead of 87 watts before. This indicates that a larger model than the 15″ MacBook Pro is on the way.

The brightness of the panel is 500 nits, the resolution is 5120 x 2880 pixels and the color range describes the P3 color space. If you don’t connect an iPad, the devices are connected via Thunderbolt 3.

Unfortunately nothing has changed in the design and so the 5K LG model is also one of the currently ugliest monitors you can buy. The picture quality and the good equipment with loudspeakers and webcam must convince you alone.
