The keyboard mechanics in the new MacBook Pro 16″ are almost congruent with those of the external Magic Keyboard.
ifixit took a closer look at the new keyboard and noticed that the mechanical construction is more or less identical. Apple speaks of a completely new development and extensive adaptations, but in principle the whole concept was only reduced by fractions of a millimeter in height. The structural design has remained exactly the same and the internal scissor technology looks almost identical.
It’s even possible to insert the Magic Keyboard’s white keys into the new 16-inch MacBook Pro and they work perfectly – they’re only slightly higher than the flatter new ones. So the MacBook Pro 16″ doesn’t give you a completely new design. But at least you get a mechanism that has already proven its worth in the external Magic Keyboard.
