Apple has released the first update to iOS 13.1 and at the same time iPadOS.
As it seems this was the planned release, only iOS 13 had to be released before, because otherwise customers with a new Apple Watch 5 with watchOS 6 would not have been able to use it on an iPhone. This requires iOS 13 on an iPhone.
Now the first update to iOS 13.1 has been released and those who want to skip the first version and skip the worst bugs can join in.
iPadOS with Split View and Slide Over
For the first time, the operating system on the iPad is no longer called iOS but iPadOS. Apple makes this distinction because advanced software customizations are to be made for each device and although it is the same software base, some new features are only available on the iPad.
These include Split View, which allows you to work with multiple files and documents within the same app, and Slide Over, which allows you to quickly view multiple apps so you can switch between them.
