Apple updated the AirPods today. The new wireless Bluetooth earphones don’t get a new product name but some new tech.
Apple is highlighting the H1 chip. It manages all of the earphone’s functions and has three advantages: It has become more economical so that the talk time could be extended to three hours and the pairing or switching between different devices can be done faster. In addition it is now possible to use the command “Hey Siri” also with the AirPods, because they are now able to pay attention to the spoken instruction.
There is also an innovation in regard to the charging case: this can now be charged wirelessly with a normal Qi charger. So just lay it down and you’re done – that’s already very practical for iPhones. The new AirPods with normal case cost 159 Dollars, the version with wireless case costs 40 Dollars more. It’s interesting that Apple also offers the wireless case for 79 Dollars separately. This is also compatible with the AirPods of the first generation.
