When repairing Face ID in the iPhone X it may be necessary to swap the normal camera on the back. If that does not help, you will get a completely new smartphone.

As reported by 9to5mac , Apple has instructed their own repair shops to test if in a case of a defect Touch ID the installation of a new rear facing camera can solve the problem. Apparently, front and rear camera modules are so interwoven technically that a defect of one part is also evident in the other.

This seems to go so far that – if the problem is not solved – a further repair is not made. Apple makes a clear statement: The customer gets directly a whole new iPhone X.

As you can see, the iPhone X and Face ID are actually getting really new technology. Failures with a few devices are inevitable. From a technical point of view it is interesting that both cameras are so dependent on each other. As usual, the service of Apple is great: a non-solvable problem within the warranty period leads directly to a new device.
