Set up USB surf stick as backup/fallback on the DrayTek Vigor 2760
Internet is great, so much we know. Therefore, we need a backup solution in case the ADSL or VDSL line should fail. Our favorite router, the DrayTek Vigor 2760, supports fallback on a surf stick. We tell you how.
First, a supported stick (see DrayTek) is inserted at the back. Then go left on WAN> General Setup> WAN 3 and turn it on: "Yes".
Then a reboot follows. The third port then (the second we do not use now) appears in the dashboard.
Now enter the PIN of the used SIM card and just use the default settings or those that are shown in the picture. That should work with most sticks. Otherwise, you have to google which settings are right for your stick.
Now you can test if it works: Just pull the cable from the phone socket. The router should now fall back to the surf stick. If you plug the cable back in, it can take a minute or two to reconnect the landline, so do not be surprised.
