New Apple maps with look-around function for Munich

Look around München

German Apple Maps got updated.

Apple has updated Maps in Germany and provides better maps. Analogous to Google’s Street View, you can now click through the streets of a city and take a virtual trip – this function is called Umsehen in German. Currently, this is available in only one German city: Munich. For other cities, this function will be added at some point.

This feature should run on most Macs and iPhones, one of our Macs with macOS 11 displayed the feature flawlessly as well as all iPhones with iOS 15.

A bit more hardware power is needed if you want to use the cool augmented reality navigation hints on the iPhone: then at least a device with A12 chip is required. In Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich, the camera image and navigation instructions can then be shown together on the display.

Apple is continuously expanding the Maps app, even though it is much more hesitant than Google in all countries outside the US. A function that is in constant demand in many German cities has unfortunately not been expanded: bicycle navigation.
