Now you can order even more powerful mobile graphics from AMD for an additional charge in the big 16-inch MacBook Pro.
As the manufacturer announces, the Radeon Pro 5600M is almost at the computing level of desktop GPUs. The 5600M delivers up to 5.3 TFLOPS FP32 floating point performance. In the standard 16″ model, one usually gets a Radeon Pro 5300M, for an additional charge a 5500M. The new 5600M costs $800 or almost $700 more than the mentioned options.
However, you then get the fastest graphics available in the MacBook with 8 GB memory. It remains to be seen how the cooling system of the large MacBook copes with the strong graphics. AMD says that the new GPU, manufactured in 7nm technology, should be extremely efficient. Still, the fans should be working hard if you really have such demanding tasks for the 5600M that it’s worth the upgrade for you.
