Apple’s this year’s reduced prices for an iPhone battery exchange still apply. If your battery is very used, you should accept the offer and make an appointment at Apple right away.
After all, you’re not the only one who want an appointment for the replacement shortly before the end of the year. 😉 Usually the service should still be possible with a bit of waiting time.
The battery exchange for Apple’s smartphones costs only 29 dollars until the end of the year, starting next year again 49 dollars and for the top models 69 dollars. Apple offers this special price because it became public that iOS reduces performance when the battery is weak. In principle a good idea, because the alternative is to completely switch off the smartphone for applications that draw a lot of energy from the battery, but Apple’s communication policy was somewhat counterproductive. In any case, since then iOS has had a “Battery status” value under “Battery” in the system settings, which also indicates whether the performance is throttled or not. And in the course of all this excitement Apple has just decided to offer the exchange at a reduced price of 29 dollars.
In our opinion, it’s worth it, because batteries of the right quality already cost around 20 dollars and if you’ve ever executed a battery replacement for a glued (because waterproof) iPhone 7 or newer yourself, you’ll be happy to spend the additional 9 bucks on it.

A little tip: The just mentioned battery condition value in iOS tells only half the truth: the value partly shows strongly deviating values compared to the values determined by Coconut Battery. Apple’s algorithm apparently not only calculates the capacity, but also the performance of the battery. This means, however, that the battery can still deliver full performance for demanding apps, but the capacity is only at 50 percent. This is the case with our iPhone 6, which now gets a new battery. So check it out with Coconut Battery or just get a new battery if the iPhone is already two or three years old.
You can get an appointment either at Apple or via the Apple Support App. There your iPhone is registered immediately and you can select as a service the battery change. Then just visit Apple or an authorized partner and the iPhone will be like new again!
