There are two new services available from two large networks: YouTube music from Google and IGTV from Instagram (Facebook).
Instagram TV
Let’s have a look at IGTV first, because in principle it is only an extension of the video clip function of the social network: From now on you can shoot and publish videos on Instagram (if you are important enough, later for everyone), which will soon have no time limit anymore.
The strict separation of networks based on their possible media or their publication duration is increasingly blurring. Disadvantages for all non-hipsters 😉 IGTV forces you to make upright videos. Aiaiaiai….. If you are using Instagram, you will notice the small TV in the upper right corner.
YouTube Music in competition with Spotify and Apple Music
YouTube, creatively called YT Music, has introduced a new music app. It only contains music videos or the audio track when you turn off the video. So one step further than Spotify and a little further than Apple Music.
The app itself is free, as is its use. You have to pay (almost 13 dollars per month) if you want the music to continue even if the app is not running in the foreground. Otherwise, it must be in the foreground and the iPhone display must not be locked.
The algorithm usually suggests interesting music and also the usual playlists are available. Perhaps an alternative for all those who always like to see music with the accompanying video. Disadvantage: YouTube does not release more than 128 kbit/s on the audio track at the moment.
