OpenCore Legacy Patcher with support for Macs from 2008 onwards

opencore legacy patcher supported hardware

The OpenCore Patcher now supports many older Macs.

The OPENCORE LEGACY PATCHER project is the easiest way to install the latest operating system – currently MacOS Ventura – to Macs that are no longer officially supplied with software by Apple.

So far, this support has been back to Mac from 2012, as these devices have all graphics cards with metal support. With the new version of the patcher 0.6.1, countless new Macs supported, which go back by 2008, will even be at iMacs until 2007.

The essential new functions of the patcher are:

  • non-metal graphics acceleration
  • Legacy Wireless Networking
  • uhci/ohci USB 1.1 controllers
  • AMD Vega Graphics on Pre-Haswell Macs
  • Rapid Security Responses for Haswell+ Macs Using Kernel Debug Kits

We always test the Patcher with our MacBook 12 “from 2015, on which the 13.2 update was installed without problems. We also have an iMac 27″ from 2011 that has not yet been supported. With this we will soon try a Ventura installation and tell you.
