Studio Display Teardown Video

Studio Display Teardown

The Studio Display is almost a complete iMac.

ifixit has taken apart the new Apple Studio display in a video. As always, very interesting and entertaining.

It is noticeable that Apple has put a lot of effort into keeping the power supply small and flat. First it consists of two parts, second, there are holes in the PCB for thicker components like coils and capacitors, so extra space was created so that these components can hide in the PCB, so to speak.

Overall, the Studio Display looks like a complete iMac from the inside. If you replace the iPhone chip A13 with a current M1, the computer should be ready. Thermal problems would probably not to be expected, since the same chip is also found in the iPad – and that without two fans and a huge aluminum case. Maybe Apple is still preparing something for us.
