Crucial has introduced a new shock-resistant SSD that is available in capacities of up to 4TB. The Crucial X6 model offers up to 540 MB/s read speed in the smaller capacities and up to 800 MB/s in the 4 TB variant. Crucial does not specify write speeds.
If that is important for you, you should test whether the model behaves similarly to the larger X8: it can lead to a strong drop in the data rate during large copy actions when the cache is full.
An advantage should be that it works according to Crucial’s USB 3.2 Gen-2 standard and thus handles all data traffic over one lane. Thus, it should also run relatively fast on M1 Macs.
