Apple has created an exchange program for some AirPods Pro that have sound playback problems.
The service program allows you to simply have Apple replace the two earphones (not the charger case, which has no problems). If you experience any of the following problems with your AirPods Pro, please contact an Apple service representative:
- Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone
- Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise
If this is the case, it is because of the AirPods Pro hardware itself and they should be replaced. The error has been known for some time. There are probably so many affected now that Apple offers an exchange program to be fair.
