Apple has released an important firmware update for older AirPort series routers.
Some time ago, the newer ac models already received an extensive security update, now it’s the turn of the older models to WLAN n standard. These include AirPort Express, the older Extreme and the Time Capsule. The software version for these is now 7.8.1 (instead of 7.9.1 for the newer ac models).
There were a lot of security holes, as Apple here in the support document lists. Among other things, the routers can be attacked from the outside with the old software or do not completely reset personal data during a reset. An update is therefore recommended in any case.
