Microsoft has its Edge Browser now also available as a Mac version.
The Mac version of Microsoft’s Edge Browser is based on Chromium, the open source version of Google’s Chrome. The browser should be fast as usual and offer a good surfing environment. Microsoft’s goal is to sort the web content better than others. The concept is called “Collections”. You can use it to sort websites well and arrange them as you like.
In addition, much value should be placed on data protection. So you can see exactly who tracks you and allow or disallow this.
We always welcome it if there is some competition with a product, especially of course if it concerns something as important as the tool that brings you to the Internet. But also for developers it should have advantages: the next Edge version should be cross platform, i.e. offer the same environment for Windows as well as macOS.
If you are curious, you can already download a Canary Version (test version) of Microsoft’s Edge Browser. And then maybe test if you can watch Netflix in 4K on a Kaby Lake Mac.
