ifixit has examined the iPad mini 5 and there are few surprises.
Sure, the hardware is now up to date with an A12 processor and 3 GB, so that the new iPad mini 5 is a very nice portable iPad, which should serve you many years with high performance.
However, Apple hasn’t changed much about the interior design: the laminated display is glued, as are the small cables around the homebotton. At least there is one advantage with this generation: Apple uses only one type of screw in the whole device. A nice simplification.
However, ifixit is of the opinion that Apple could have made it easier to replace the battery or the home button. But it’s not impossible. You can find all pictures here in ifixit Teardown.
