Some time ago in the course of the GDPR Apple created the possibility for customers to get access to their own iCloud data. Now this service is also available for other countries.
Since the GDPR is a European law, Apple has of course made the Apple ID Portal accessible to users in Europe first. However, Apple is now beginning to offer this possibility in other countries as well. From now on, users from the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia can also view, download and customize their iCloud data. Other countries are likely to follow.
So this gives you the freedom of your data: You can simply take it with you when you change providers in a standardized format. For example, you can simply export addresses or calendar data and then import them to the new provider. At the moment, however, we have to say that our favorite company is almost one of the last to respect the privacy and customer data of users. The offer to simply get one’s own data underlines this.
