You are waiting for the Dual SIM Feature in the iPhone Xs? You have to be patient for still a few months. Here are the requirements.
Apple tells us what we need to use the Dual SIM function in a new iPhone Xs. Remember, everywhere in the world except China, the second SIM in the iPhone is not a real SIM card but an eSIM. Therefore this points have to be checked:
- you have to wait for an update of iOS 12 (meaning in real life it will come with version 12.1 or 12.2)
- your provider has to support eSIM (which is likely if the offer LTE Apple Watches)
- if you like to use two different providers, your iPhone has to be unlocked (obviously)
So all in all everything makes sense. Why the rest of the world just doesn’t get the iPhone with two SIM card capability like China seems to be a political decision: Apple wants to push the eSIM, which is not a bad idea.
You still have to wait a few month for this new function, so what can you do in the meantime? If you are in Germany, you could use Satellite, which gives you a mobile number just in an App. No SIM, not even an eSIM necessary. Or if you are somewhere else, just use a standard SIP provider together with this or this app for example.
