For many models the 29 dollar offer for a battery exchange directly at Apple is still valid. Here are the upcoming prices.
With the introduction of iPhone Xs and Xr yesterday, Apple has also set new prices for battery replacement. On this support page you will find an overview. According to this – and this was known – the 29 dollar offer is only valid until the end of the year. If you want to have a battery exchange done, now is the time.
After that the regular battery change costs 49 dollars. This price applies to iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
If you want to change the battery for a newer model such as the iPhone X, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max or iPhone XR, it costs 69 dollars.
For all older models, including the iPhone 5s, which will still be supplied with iOS 12, the exchange costs 79 dollars. This is just as much as before the excitement that the processor speed is throttled with an older battery. Apparently one year should have been enough to give all affected iPhones a new battery at a reasonable price.
However, the high price doesn’t agree with the statement of yesterday’s keynote that one should use devices as long as possible. If the simple 5s battery is more expensive than the complex Xs battery, this is rather counterproductive. Apart from that one has to say that the 49 dollars for a change is fair for the mainstream models. The battery quality is still better with Apple than with third-party manufacturers and also the effort for the waterproof glued iPhones from the 7er is not to be underestimated. Apparently Apple really means to become more sustainable by and large.
