Apple is eliminating two long-established apps: iBook Author and iTunes U.
With iBook Author, authors were able to create their own eBooks. Apple is now discontinuing this app and refers to Pages that should be able to create eBooks. This is correct, even if functions like keynote widget, HTML widget, popover, review questions, glossary etc. are missing. Maybe if you are still using iBook Author you should look for another solution here. The app will be removed from the App Store on July 1st.
Apple discontinues the education platform iTunes U
In addition, Apple is closing the great learning platform iTunes U completely until 2021, and Apple’s proposal is to switch to the apps Schoolwork and Classroom.
iTunes is (now only for a short time) a great platform to access learning content such as lectures, videos, books, etc. Institutions that post their content there include Stanford, MIT, Yale, La Trobe University, University of Tokyo, Smithsonian Libraries and the National Theatre. There are other ways to get this content, but iTunes was a nice platform. Unfortunately Apple did not maintain it enough, already under iOS 12 there were some problems. Now the learning platform will be discontinued completely.
