AVM presents three new FritzBox models. The 5690 Pro and 5690 XGS combine two technologies in one box: namely DSL and fiber optics. This makes it practical if conventional DSL is currently still being used but is to be switched to fiber optics in the near future and the cable is to find its way directly into the router (because it is also possible via Ethernet with older FritzBoxes).
Both devices come with WiFi 7 and a DECT module for telephony. A new feature is a Zigbee module that should be able to control devices from Philips Hue and Ikea. The differences between the Pro and XGS lie in the maximum fiber optic speed: it is 2.5 Gbit/s for the Pro and a full 10 Gbit/s for the XGS.
With the FRITZ!Box 6860 5G, users can achieve speeds of up to 1.3 Gbit/s in all 5G mobile networks. The box supports 5G NSA and SA as well as LTE over all common 5G and LTE bands in Europe. In addition, it offers powerful WLAN mesh according to the Wi-Fi 6 standard, networking via gigabit LAN and a telephone system with mobile telephony (VoLTE, VoNR) for users on the 5G/LTE connection. The FRITZ!Box 6860 5G allows users the well-known home network convenience of a FRITZ!Box as a mesh master for WLAN, telephony and smart home, even in 5G networks. Thanks to the new small housing and the power connection via Power over Ethernet, users can place the 5G FRITZ!Box flexibly. The software of the FRITZ!Box 6860 5G also supports users in finding the best position for the best mobile phone reception.
