Anyone who was surprised by a blaring smartphone at eleven o’clock has not followed the news in the last few days. A test of the newly introduced cell broadcast alarm system in Germany took place.
In addition, the cell phone emitted a rather nasty alarm tone, and there were also two text messages that stated that it was a test. In the case of real warnings, there is logically more information about the current threat here.
Conveniently, every smartphone receives notifications in German and English, so that large parts of the population should be able to understand the news. If your smartphone hasn’t issued a warning, then you haven’t updated it to the latest software version recently or the transmission of the cell broadcast warning was faulty in your geographic area.
Yep, looks like Cell Broadcast worked. A vast improvement vs last years disaster.
But here the sirens went off 45 mins late, so not all is perfect.
How did you get the the warning notification in both German and English?
So at least delay was under an hour 🙂
Yes, in German and English. My iPhone is set to English though, so maybe you automatically get the message in German and whatever your iPhone’s standard language is.
