Anyone who has a subscription to StarMoney on the Mac will have received an email yesterday that the software will be discontinued. As StarMoney also writes in its own forum the following:
We will cancel your subscription at the end of the period already paid for.
This means that no further debit will be made.If your subscription ends before December 31, 2023, you can still use StarMoney for Mac free of charge until December 31, 2023. However, we no longer guarantee the program for the additional period.
After December 31, 2023, StarMoney for Mac can no longer be used regularly, but you will still have access to the data you have accumulated up to that point.
So it looks as if the time of the practical banking program on the Mac is over. However, it is also mentioned at the same time that an alternative banking app “should be available promptly”.
So you have no time pressure and can wait and see what happens. Or, if you don’t like uncertainties or are currently looking for a good banking program, look around for an alternative.
In this context, we can recommend MoneyMoney. The software supports many different banks, is regularly maintained, looks good and is cooked unexpensive. Fortunately, there is also a trial version so you can test it for 30 days. During this period you can try out whether you can, for example, take over the data from StarMoney via .csv export.
