New FritzBox 4060 without modem but with DECT base and mesh WLAN

FritzBox 4060

A new FritzBox without modem.

AVM has introduced a new FritzBox for users who prefer a device without a modem. The previous current model 4040 came with normal ac WLAN, the new 4060 now has Tri Band Mesh WLAN and also a DECT base for wireless communication.

This combination can be useful, for example, if you have a fiber optic connection that simply ends in a network port. One simply connects this to the network port of the FritzBox and is ready to go.

FritzBox 4060 Ports

Unfortunately, there are only three Ethernet ports and one USB 3.0 port on the back. The WAN port can handle up to 2.5 Gbit/s. WLAN is distributed over three radio units and supports Wifi ax. This means you get two separate 5 GHz bands and one for 2.4 GHz.

However, the price is quite steep: AVM charges around 250 Euros for the 4060. For the 4040 without ax WLAN and without DECT, but with one more Ethernet port, you don’t even have to pay 80 Euros.
