Netflix is constantly experimenting with new price models. In India, a variant has now emerged that promises a 50% discount.

It is an annual subscription as Chip has discovered. The Indian user Tanmay shared a screenshot of his Netflix app, in which he was offered a Netflix subscription at half price – provided he committed himself for one year.

In principle a good deal. This kind of the price reduction also exists for cell phone contracts for example: if a user binds him oder herself two years then more favorable conditions come in to play, everybody wanting to have the possibilityto quit every month pays somewhat more.

It will be exciting to see whether the internal evaluations at Netflix predict success for the concept. Perhaps the price model will then also be available in other markets. Users who then want to commit themselves to the service for a long time receive a discount – the idea is by no means bad.
