ifixit has taken the new AirPods 2 apart. So much can be revealed: there is still nothing that can be repaired.
This fact shouldn’t come as a surprise with the small sizes, Apple also glues all the components together. But after two years of use, when the battery is gone, it even becomes difficult to recycle the AirPods: the batteries in the small earphones can currently only be separated from the rest of the case with human effort, which makes this step quite expensive. So the best way to dispose of them is to return them to Apple. Do not put them in the garbage can.
The structure of the AirPods has hardly changed compared to the first generation except for the new H1 chip. Only the Ladecase has changed a bit: it seems to be more resistant to water and now it contains (give you selected the option) a charging coil, with which does allow it now to be charged wirelessly on a Qi Charger.
