Apple’s AirPower charging mat for wireless charging of iPhones and AirPods seems to be further delayed. Just build your own!
Apple has banned many hints and references to the AirPower charging mat, which should have charged up to three devices at the same time, from the website. There are still hints on the device like for example on the AirPod page, but overall the project seems to be under the radar. Either Apple surprises us in the coming weeks or the development is far more complex than expected and will be postponed.
If you can’t wait, you can build your own Qi charger in Apple design from an old Time Capsule. The design is still excellent and you don’t need much electrical knowledge either: in principle you just put a USB charger into a plastic case, it’s really easy. You can also use a charger that has several outputs, then you can charge your iPhone with Qi compatibility, a device with Lightning connector, your MacBook with USB-C port and another device with Micro USB. Since you have it in your hand, you can simply adjust the equipment as you like it.
