USB-C hubs that also have a USB-C port available (besides the one for the power cable) are still rare. Anker now offers such a hub with the PowerExpand+ 11-in-1 USB-C hub.
You can now connect a USB-C power adapter as well as another USB-C device to the hub at full 5 Gbit/s simultaneously. In addition to these two jacks, the hub offers:
- 1x USB-A 3.0 and 2x USB 2.0
- 1x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort
- 1x SD card, 1x microSD card
- 1x Gigabit NEtzwerk
- 1x 3.5mm audio jack
Since the hub connects via USB and not Thunderbolt there are several limitations on the graphics options. For example, a 4K image at 60 Hz is only possible when only one monitor is connected. If two are connected, there is either only 30 Hz or 60 Hz at a lower resolution due to the limited bandwidth. Also, macOS does not support multistream transport with USB-C, i.e. both connected monitors can only output the same picture anyway. This restriction does not exist under Windows.
However, it is of course practical that Anker uses HDMI and DisplayPort here. For example, you can connect the 4K monitor via DisplayPort at home and large displays and projectors with HDMI on the road.
