Apple is working to make the Smart Home segment more successful with its own HomeKit standard. The company is currently hiring a former Microsoft manager.
Sam Jadallah not only gained experience at Microsoft but also at Otto, a company that designed Smart Locks, i.e. door locks controllable via Bluetooth and Wifi (see CNBC). However, the company itself suspended operations before mass production .
Nevertheless, the work on the Smart Home product should have generated a lot of knowledge from which Apple expects new inspiration. HomeKit was introduced half a decade ago and hasn’t developed as fast since compared to Amazons or Google’s ecosystem. A breath of fresh air would do Apple good in this area.
