How to fix a wobbly MacBook Display and replace the display hinges
You got an older MacBook Pro that has a wobbly screen? The source of your displeasure are just some loose screws. We show you how to tighten them.
****Loose screws lead to a wobbly screen.****
Models with wobbly display mostly are MacBook Pro machines without retina display. Apple didn't seem to fix the screws with some additional glue (the blue stuff that you see on some screws), so they got loose over time. As always, we start by removing the display assembly as ifixit tells us in their manual. Our machine in this example is a MacBook Pro 13" 2011.
The interesting part starts after you have removed the assembly: you can see one part of the hinge. This is the part that connects to the MacBook and isn't normally affected by loose screws. These are under the black cover. To remove it, push it to the right, until you can see the silver part of the left hinge.
Then, move the cover carefully upwards and remove it. You can now see both hinges completely as well as the Wifi antennas. The loose screws are two on each side. To tighten them again just use a Torx T6 screwdriver. Use a bit of force and after fixing the problem apply a bit of glue, so they don't move again. Done.
Now reassemble everything. As you can see, not fixing the problem is the real challenge here but taking your MacBook apart. As the ifixit manual is excellent though, be brave an try it yourself. It is a great feeling to have fixed your own machine! As you have disassembled the machine up to this point, you can also replace worn hinges if you like:
